Dude..

the time reqd to study for cat is a relative concept & will differ from person to person..It ll also depend on whthr u are working or you are solely studyin for CAT...If u r not...ten u need to firstly see what r ur strengths & weakness...Devote more time for ur weak subjects...

Make a timetable (which I still have to make  ) & try to stick to it..

Cheers!!

Well...since u have 5 hrs @ ur hand, u can devote 1 to 1.5 hrs for ur vocab n some stuff like tables, squares, cubes, percentages etc...

u can devote remaining hrs...if u want in an equal proportion for VA, QA n DI or depending on ur weak n strong subjects...right now concentrate on d basics & then u can move fwd...

best of luck for ur studies :tea:

Cheers!!

Hi nishanth
well i endorse sri as far as the 'stick to basic" concept is concern. It's the right time to concentrate on basic..and u start working on areas according to ur comfirt.
As far as vocab(word list) and basic mental maths is concern specially mugging up square and reciprocals i would say try to do it in time like when u r walking from home to bus stand or anywhere like this...as it's a ongoing process and takes time to complete...regulartiy is another key to try to kind time for these from ur daily chores.
better try start wokring on RC's.....one RC exercise each day probabaly...this is what i m doing!!...okkk trying
me aslo working buddy.....it's tuff no doubt but not impossible
cheers:tea:

well Nishanth i guess everyone must have their own fav and own strategies..so everyone has their own veiws on this...
but convensionally....
sqaures upto 30
cubes 15-20
reciprocals-30

list is so on...the more u know better it is...but it's not a thumb rule...these things make thngs easy and thats it...mental calculations is the answer i guess...practice..practice practice....i guess make habit to calculate mentally...these cramming thing might not b required then!!

Heyy, no. of hour's does'nt really count .1 hour study with high concentration is far better than wasting 3-4 hr's with half of the time being wasted on mobile's and other gadgets.so don't think like how many hour's you require.just try to be focused and concentrated. i am also a working professional working from 9 am to 6 pm and simultaneously doing preparation of CAT 2013. so it's not possible for me to join any coaching institute. i guess you too have the same case. however, there is an alternate for people like us. one of my friend have recently advised me to join online coaching for preparation of CAT 2013. and seriously i found the advise good & thought of giving it a try. so i have enrolled @ wiziq.com/course/9277-lr-vr-di-ds-speed-calculations-quant-general-awareness .i found it little bit helpful.it atleast keeps you in touch with studies. something is always better than nothing.however it's biggest advantage is the timing. you can view the recorded video's any time. so i guess it could prove to be a good alternate to all working professional's like me and you too. :)

How to crack CAT

1. Study for 7-8 hours a week but regularly.

2. Find ways to stay motivated

3. Enroll for mocks and take accountability

4. Don't fly or get bogged down with mock results

5. Be a part of an online/offline study group

6. Have a flexible time table while preparing

9. Take breaks
