Indo-US nuclear deal
Do India have to sign Fissile Material Cut off Treaty, which would prohibit further production of weapons-grade uranium and plutonium.
‘As part of the US-India nuclear deal, India has refused to place under international safeguards its stock of spent fuel from indigenous power reactors, separated plutonium, reprocessing plants, fast breeder reactor program, and several CANDU-type reactors needed to provide the initial fuel for the breeder reactors,’’ said the 164-page report. The report says that Pakistan (60) has more nuclear warheads than India (50).
We want India to be recognized as a Nuclear Power. Well is it really essential to be recognized as a Nuclear Power that to be come an Economic Power. Today the world scenario has changed, the one who is economically sound and established rules the world and sets the rules. We should have tried to hit a deal to increase the economic prospects of India rather than becoming an ally of US and get recognized as Nuclear country under the Umbrella of US.

Indian Nuclear Science is headed an excellent way after Pokhran Test in 1998. The tests gave an enormous boost to the confidence and self reliability to Indian Nuclear Science. Hitting the deals with US has shattered the confidence of our Scientists and India lost her status of being independent in Nuclear Science. India has been pioneering in Thorium Nuclear Technology, now which may come under guidelines of the deal. Had the deal not been signed, Indian Scientist would have worked their way to make India a Nuclear Power and presenting the same before the world without any aid from US. Now this all has gone.

Signing of deal will ofcourse lead to increased migration of Talent from India to US, which is again a setback to India.
seems to be a good deal if only restricted to uninterrupted supply of Nuclear raw material. In turn the deal seems to increase the import of nuclear instruments from US, which is a disadvantage to India. Since there are more players in the same field, India has now left herself with least choice to go to some other country than US. Buying instruments or reactors from some other country may bring bad notions to US. The example to which is one of the major companies in US has decided to set up a reactor in India. The news was in air, the very next day the deal is signed.

This clearly states that US is looking for new markets to sell its nuclear products. Has it not been India, we would have surely seen some other country in Asia as a client to this deal. Other reason is US wants to nullify the effect of China being a Nuclear Power in Asia.

According to nuclear scientists it is good.
According to left political parties and all other people who are against america it is bad.
Scientiests are supporting it because it will give new image to india, and helping india to stand in row of usa and russia.
Bjp, lefts are opposing it to oppose america and leading parties.
Is it right are wrong, depends on your thinking.
If do not believe on media because their every news is for threatning you. The only way to know it is to study it.
According to my opinion deal is good.................so all d best and look into the details once........................:SugarwareZ-064:

Nuclear Deal is in very much interest of the country. What all it provides is another SOURCE of energy. And in huge quantity, but still as per estimates it wont be able to meet our requirement in 2050. We wud still require to mak use of other forms of energy. It takes time to Produce Nuclear Energy. What US will giv us is Only the required raw material i.e Uranium and Technology assistance. But they dont want us to use the Uranium for making Nuclear Weapons.

Neither the Congress, Left Or BJP had any probs wid the deal. Its like a bargain, if someone (USA) is giving u something one wud always ask for a price higher as he can and viceversa. Only couple of points wer subject of argument, which cud hav been sorted out.

So as long as OUR Energy Security is maintained without really giving away any of our Crucial rights, its fine. Coz we r seeing the Power situation in India, where was the vision, we didnt have any significant capacity addition in 5 decades, and if we try to do it alone, one can think of 24 hour Power Cuts in the Country, so u require some quick fix, and so we hav to get the technology assistance and Uranium from US.

well it is surely good for India, but now the question is can we be dependent on other countries for such issues........... can't our officials use or increase the resources in India itself coz i feel we have all resources and capabilities........

i read an article that the reserves of uranium ores is depleting ever faster and would run out faster than oil......and so most of the developed countries arent investing in nuclear power.....can anybody pass on that article ??

Hi Everyone .....

U go to any part of the world , People Don't like change and usually don't accept change that easily . In the 1990 's when liberalization policy was adopted by the then Finace Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh , he was harshly criticized by many including the Industrialists . But now U can see the Benefits of that decision . Indian Companies taking over Foreign Companies .
See no one of us here is an Expert on the Nuclear Deal Topic nor do we have Access to the Content of the Actuall Deal . But i will Only say One thing , Dr. Manmohan Singh is a Very Intelligent and Trustworthy Person and he is definately doing the right thing for the Nation.
I don't want to play a Devil's Advocate . I may be wrong but this is what I feel .
Bye .

every side has its pros and cons....but we should see which is side has got more weightage...and accordingly we should decide...now in this deal if we see...it has got more positive aspects...by entering into this deal India can fulfill its 20000 mw energy req. through nuclear and will get less dependent on diseal fuel...so it will directly effect the economy as a whole...so in my opnion its gud to have this deal.

Hi everyone,
I indeed feel this nuclear deal is an imp breakthrough for India. This is our entry in the huge nuclear commerce area vch ws not able so far.

nothing like it,if india clinches the deal but its true that even after it we could face restrictions and we would be a puppet in the hands of NSG
