Nokia on Thursday announced that it would introduce 10 multimedia handsets to its Nokia Nseries.
The new series, launched with the concept of "My Connected Life" will focus on the growing trend of convergence among Internet, PCs and electronics.
"The demand for converged devices is growing exponentially and the total volume of converged devices is expected to reach 100 million units in 2006 and 250 million units in 2008," said Mr Vineet Taneja, Director, Multi Media, Nokia India. Having sold 10 million Nseries devices globally last year, it plans to sell 80 million devices in 2006. "Our target customer would be someone young, techno-savvy, largely male and globally travelled," said Mr Taneja.
Declining to comment on the price of the new sets, he said that the price of some newly launched models might even cross the Rs 33,000 mark.
The company will set up exclusive `Nokia Nseries Experience Zones' in over 10 malls this year and will add a similar number in the next year. Across the country, 600 Nokia outlets will be established for this new series.
