NMDC achieves record iron ore production
NEW DELHI: India’s Public Sector Undertaking, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has recorded a production of 20.1 million tones of iron-ore during April-December 2007.
This shows a growth of 12.5 per cent over the production during the same period last year. It also surpassed the target set in the Memorandum of Understanding by 6 per cent.
Speaking at a performance review meeting of MMDC, Rana Som, chairman of the corporation said, the company would set up an Investigation and Exploration Centre at Raipur.
NMDC sold 19.86 million tones of iron ore during the first nine months of FY 08 as against 17.49 million tones during the same period in FY 07. During the period, the company earned net profit of Rs. 2234.01 crore compared to Rs. 1609.20 crore during the previous year.
