The markets remained strong throughout the day and witnessed profit booking during the last two hours of trade but still ended on a very strong note. Buying was seen in Auto, Banking, Reality and Metal counters while IT counter witnessed selling pressure. The Sensex closed at 17,711 up 67 points after trading in the range of 17,793-17,711. Nifty shut at 5,308 up 20 point after trading in the range of 5,329- 5,242. The Small cap and Mid-cap indices ended relatively flat. The breadth of the market was negative and the turnover was recorded at Rs 74,292Cr.The April nifty future ended with a 20 point premium.
