The Sensex ended lower at 16,780 down 79 points after trading between 16,877 and 16,705. On the NSE, Nifty was down 19 points to close at 5,002 ahead of F&O expiry tomorrow. Buying was seen in sugar and capital goods stocks while selling continued in reality, banking and metal counters. The Jan Nifty future ended with 5 points discount and the market breadth was Ngative.
