The markets struggled throughout the day and ended with modest gains.
Moderate buying was seen in Banking, It and Metal sectors while Reality and Auto sector witnessed selling pressure. The Pharma sector however outperformed the markets today. The Sensex closed at 17,451 up 41 point after trading in the range of 17,530-17,356. Nifty shut at 5,225 up 20 point after trading in the range of 5,243- 5,193. The Small cap and Mid-cap indices were marginally up by 0.25% and 0.14% respectively. The breadth of the market was relatively flat and the turnover was recorded at Rs 1,18,690 Cr.
