The Sensex closed at 16,286 up 50 points after trading in the range of 16,324 – 16,178. The Nifty was up 14 points to settle at 4,870 after making an intra-day high of 4,884 and low of 4,833. The Small cap and Midcap indices were down by 0.92% and 0.59% respectively. The breadth was negative and the markets total turnover recorded at Rs 96,286 Cr. Nifty Feb future ended with 10 points premium.
