The Sensex fell 220 points after touching an intra-day high of 17,200 in the early hour of trading and hit a low of 16,835 to end at 16,877. Nifty fell 73 points or 1.42% to settle at 5033. The broader indices slipped 1.4-1.5%. All sectoral indices ended in red. Capital goods, telecom, auto, oil & gas, power and cement stocks witnessed selling pressure while select pharma and IT stocks showed buying interest. The breadth remained negative.
