The benchmark index ended 15 points higher at 17,185 after hitting an intra-day high of 17,361 and low of 17,128. Nifty ended up 8 points at 5,131 after touching the intra-day high of 5,180. Major action was seen in the broader markets. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices were up 0.4 and 0.9 % up respectively. Healthcare, metal and realty stocks were the gainers while auto stocks saw some profit-taking. The breadth was positive and the markets reported total turnover of Rs 82,111 cr.
