The benchmark indices ended on a strong note on huge short covering and positive global cues. Buying was seen across all sectors. The Sensex closed at 16,496 up 333 points or 2.06% and the Nifty settled at 4,932 up 102 points or 2.1%. Huge buying was seen in metals, capital goods, reality and select banking stocks. The market breadth was flat and volumes were lower.
