The Sensex was dowm by 28 points to close at 17,169 after hitting a high of 17,329 while Nifty shut at 5,116 down 17 points. Among the broader indices, the BSE Midcap Index was up 0.90% and Smallcap up 0.87%. The breadth remained very strong and volumes also improved. Huge buying was seen in reality, banking stocks especially psu banks.
