The Nifty ended below the psychological 5,000 mark for the first time in the last 15 trading sessions. Sell-off was witnessed across all sectors barring pharma and auto. Asian markets remained negative while European and US futures were trading green. The Sensex closed at 16,719 down 174 points after hitting a low of 16,693. The Nifty shut at 4,987 down 54 points it touched a low of 4,979. The BSE Midcap Index was down 0.66% and Smallcap down 0.4%. The breadth turned negative. For the week nifty ended down 2.6%.
