Markets ended lower today amid fear among investors that the strong IIP data would increase the possibility of RBI tightening its monetary policy. Infosys results boosted IT stocks but failed to make an impact on broader markets. The Sensex closed at 17,422 down 104 points after trading in the range of 17,392 – 17,612. The Nifty closed at 5,249 down 39 points after making an intra-day high of 5,300. The breadth remained negative.
