The Sensex closed at 17,189 up 64 points after trading in the range of 17,032-17,231. The Nifty rose 0.34% or 17 points to settle at 5,129. Buying interest was seen in telecom, capital goods, metal and power stocks while selling was seen in technology, FMCG, auto and pharma stocks. The market breadth was positive and the total turnover was at Rs 76,523 cr.
