The markets ended flat with positive market breadth after a choppy session. The Sensex closed at 17,701 up 15 points after trading in the narrow range of 17,790-17,636. The Nifty shut at 5,282 up 4 points. Buying was seen in shares of oil & gas exploration, realty, pharma, FMCG and select banking stocks while selling witnessed in technology, metal, capital goods and select auto stocks. The breadth was positive. The Jan nifty ended with 10 points premium.
