Markets continue to drift lower as huge sell-off seen in capital goods, metal, auto and realty stocks. The Sensex closed at 16,601 down 119 points after trading in the range of 16,577-16,750. The Nifty fell 0.7% or 35 points to settle at 4,952 after hitting an intraday low of 4,943. The market breadth was negative and the markets reported total turnover at Rs 85,748 cr.
