The Sensex advanced 272 points to close at 17,198 after hitting a high of 17,218 while Nifty shut at 5,122 up 89 points. Among the broader indices, the BSE Midcap Index was up 1.77% and Smallcap up 2.15%. The breadth remained very strong and volumes also improved. Huge buying was seen in reality, auto, healthcare, banking, oil & gas and metal stocks which recorded good gains.
