In a five-day event, New York celebrated India's 60 years of independence. The celebrations -- that started on September 22 -- included cultural events, demonstrations, folk dance and many other festivities.

The Colonial Cousins -- comprising of Leslie Lewis and Hariharan -- were invited to perform at New York's South Street Seaport.

As Leslie Lewis and Hariharan sang, dancers moved to folk and bhangra beats.

Another star performer at the event was Remo Fernandes. For trivia lovers: It seems that the Goan singer can play a 100 different instruments.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch the colourful events, and enjoy the Indian cuisine served here.
