Research Interest
General Research
Interest
Having explored the domains of Architectural Innovation,
State Owned Enterprises, Bottom of the Economic Pyramid
and Transaction Cost Economics, I have finally settled on the
underlying and unifying theme w.r.t. the previous 4 themes
namely, sustainability. Sustainability as a construct has been
predominantly viewed from the perspective of resource
conservation often leading to suboptimal deployment of
resources and concomitant returns. A nascent stream in the
literature has started to relook at sustainability from the
perspective of multiple scopes without compromising the
long term implications. Typically, subthemes include:
(i) Sustainable Networks (Evolving nature of
competitive advantages)
(ii) Sustainable Rents (as opposed to quasi rents)
(iii) Sustainability against Market Failures (role of
SOEs)
(iv) Sustainable Transactional Relationships (leveraging
networks)
(v) Sustainability from Trust as a mechanism for long
term relationship
(vi) Sustainability from creation of Isolating
Mechanisms
(vii) Sustainability of Value Chain (bordering on
constrained resource usage)
(viii) Sustainable Business Models (both public,
established private & start-ups)
(ix) Sustainability from/against politico-
ideological/institutional interventions
(x) Sustainability from Organizational Slack
(xi) Sustainability from Technological Core –>
commercialization (innovation).
That apart, contextually, I am interested in the Banking,
Insurance, Pension and other Social Security instruments and
their impacts on Social Capital Formation and leveraging (for
the mutual benefit of the community and the firm) and
society at large.
