Yes, it should be changed, because very few people watch hockey. Infact our national game should be cricket.

I disagree...Indian cricket is just not a game.. Its passion, money, glamour and may be evrything for cricket fans.. If it becomes our national game, it wont change anything. Its just the popularity of the game which decides its position.
 
The national Game of India Hockey was decided seeing the stupendous performance of Indian Hockey team winning 6 olympic gold medals between 1928-56, just because we are not performing well does not make sense that we should stop playing hockey. It just needs a little bit of attention, we will sure reclaim the heights achieved by our great players.
 
Because of money....
All admins want to bring the best value for their money invested. Hence Cricket soon after 1971/73 wins by India,
followed by 1983 WC Cup win, it was all cricket.

Ask the young Indian generation and they do not even know
that hockey was the National game, which assured us a gold
medal until 1960s.

As I recall, once someone mentioned that every dollar spent
on Cricket, they get 25-50 times more in revenue.
Can Hockey, Soccer or any other sport do it in India?
It is the marketing with the results needed.
 
making hockey as a better sport would be a much better idea rather that changing the national games......when england is not performing well, they didnt change their national game and this applies to all categories
