Mukesh Ambani receives honorary doctorate

Industry baron Mukesh Ambani was on Saturday conferred with an honorary degree of Doctor of Science by Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

The degree was presented to the Reliance Industry Chairman by MS University Chancellor Mrunalini Devi Puar, a company statement said.

Ambani would join the likes of Former President A P J Abdul Kalam and actor Kanayilal Munshi, who have earlier received the doctorate from the university. He is the 15th and the youngest to receive the doctorate from the university.

Ambani is a Chemical Engineer from The University of Bombay and MBA from Stanford University.

RIL is engaged in textiles, petrochemicals, petroleum refining and exploration and production of oil and gas, and retail.

Ambani has been bestowed with the Global Vision 2007 Award for leadership by United States-India Business Council and ET Business Leader of the Year Award 2006.

He also received the first NDTV Profit Global Indian Leader Award from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar also received the honorary degree from MS University today.
