Tell us something about yourself?
I believe in simplicity of life and believe in enjoying whatever life gives.
My principal of life is “Better to accept than to expect”
My philosophy of life is “Risk is an integral part of life. So willingly or unwillingly everyone has to accept it. So better before being compelled to take risk, why not take the risk (calculated) upfront.
By Qualification I am an M.Com, CS, LLB* with approximately more than. 4 years into financial services industry. I like adventures in my life and ready to try new things.
What is management according to you?
Management is an art and science of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. Management means managing oneself in an attempt to manage others. Management is something that is known but not practiced.
What is your philosophy towards work?
Smart work is required than hard work by means of utilizing the available time in the most appropriate way
As has been rightly quoted by Henry David Thoreau “Do not hire a man who does your work for money, but him who does it for love of it.” So love what you do and do what you love. At the end of the day satisfaction is more important than money as every one has to go with empty hands and a “NIL” bank balance.
Describe the change in the management situation you have experienced till date?
Management having a forecasting and execution ability to anticipate things are more likely to succeed as compared to peers who believes in more planning than execution
What motivates you to do your best on the job?
Continuous learning and exposure to different situations and dealing with people.
Biggest learning in the career so far is
“No two things / no two situations can be same. Always remember there is a difference between same and similar.”
Tell me about the most fun you have had on the job?
Carrying out the research activities related to the profession in search of the perfection. But remember there is nothing like being perfect. Its just a matter of perception and biasness towards things.
“Earning in 6 digits” is the motive behind doing MBA? Is it justifiable?
“It's motive alone which gives character to the actions of men. “ - Jean de la Bruyere
Though the motive is not justifiable but its all about being practical. Since the attitude of the employers in our country is more on the degree achieved by individuals then on the capability and the caliber. It is presume that more the number of degree better the person at work. Employers need to demarcate the difference between academic performance and practical performance.
Do you think the MBA course curriculum is at par with industry expectations?
To an extent yes, but need to be updated more frequently to keep in tune with the rapidly changing time.
What suggestions would you like to give to enhance MBA today?
Incorporating the practice that is followed overseas. That is more weightage on practical aspects then on the theoretical (text book) methods. An MBA student has to deal in very dynamic environment where things keeps on changing. So no one method can be used every where.
Our education system is more exam oriented than performance.
Our working culture is more academics focused then practically exposed.
Is the Name of the Institute from where a student does his/her MBA important while entering into corporate world?
Yes to a great extent. But one should remember that a good institute is just a stepping stone. Rest all depends on the individual capability and ability.
What message would you like to give to the students aspiring to work at management level?
MBA degree is just the beginning. It’s a journey and not the destination.
Don’t do MBA for the sake of adding degree to your resume or because it’s the trend /in demand or one of your friend is doing.
Do it with the right perspective to become a role model for someone.
What are your views on the Entrance Exams for Professionals courses?
Required but needs improvement.
What do Corporate’s expect from MBA professionals?
Better techniques of doing/handling/managing things and at reasonably good pace.
What piece of advice would you give to a student aspiring for an MBA?
Give more than 100 % in whatever you do. Once you decide to do a task ensure you complete it at whatever cost.
