Mp - A critique's view or is it a hard core supporter?

Its been almost two years i think.. since i first visited this site..

Let me give some background.. which probably give some weightage to the mail...

I completed my bms three years back..
When i joined Mp i was working for a research company and was editor incharge for an E Magaizine..
I used to be working from home and be online for around 16 hours on an average
With time i explored 1000 of sites and registered 80% of those
but remain active with only a few of those
I had decided that i wanted to be very active member at mp...
and so i decided with a few other sites..
the other sites.. some related to management... HR... MObiles... Gossip/Humour... Harry Potter.. all of these i could remain active comfortably.. but it never happened with MP..
and i dont know why..
but there are some things with never made me stick here for more than 20-25 minutes..
Today am making an effort to point some of the possible reasons which made me go away.
1. The overall feel of the site... dont know.. but it's really boring..
i remember the SRK movie.. Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani... and visualise Kartik as Satish shah or Kulbhushan... who does not want to waste a single inch where he can advertise and is not... no matter how slow the site can get and how much inconviniece it would cost
2. The structure of the posts... everthing cluttered in the same posts
man.. visit other forums... they are way way up in terms of organising stuff..
again.. the base forum that u use... the most common is phb and Invision... the one that u are using.. does not even allow to edit one's own post... how can u call it good?
3. NO ground rules of posting..
multiple posts are strickly banned
Advertisements in signatures is a strick no no in most forums
i also noticed a high resolution 100 kb photograph of an actress which takes ages to download.. and open repeatedly taking up 1/2 the screen space (mind u.. i use 1024 resolution and not 800-600) why is it required?
No ground rules for quoting...
4. Another thing.. as soon as we register.. one gets a tag line of aalsi manager...
Who gives the moderator to give such a tag to the member..
its the customers world.. u can never abuse him...
infact by coming online.. visiting ur site.. and registering he is proving that he is not aalsi
and
jst because he does not contribute to Mp.. u cant classify him as aasli.. first MP has to prove to the member that its worth contributing... and frankly am still waiting...
i know what the hits have been... but still list out 25 members who are ready to contribute to this after they pass out.. and u will be left counting
5. lastly..If there is so much advertisement which is happening.. there is must be good amount of money made... where are the accounts.. its the age of transperancy... right??

there could be 10 more things that i can point out..
but i dont know what the reactiong to this things could be..
i dont even to know that i would be motivated enough to come and check the responses.. but i believe that these points would help
hope when i come back.. i would find atleast 25 responses to the mail and some of the things taken care of..

Finally a critique ..

Vishal bhaiya visits this forum after many years and bashes the hell out of it.. without any past background..

Its all good.. as long as it directs us for something better.. though i would like to say few things

Let me answer them one by one ...

1. The overall feel of the site... dont know.. but it's really boring..

Site is slow agreed.. because the servers are slow.. the traffic it serves is about 21,71,339 hits a month. And the bandwidth it utilised, you cannot imagine Siree. Either I spend lakhs per year on a server or i go with what we have.. the second option is the only choice because i cant spend lakhs.

2. The structure of the posts... everthing cluttered in the same posts
man.. visit other forums... they are way way up in terms of organising stuff..
again.. the base forum that u use... the most common is phb and Invision... the one that u are using.. does not even allow to edit one's own post... how can u call it good?

We are using vbulletin, which is much better and secure than any other forum software. The edit option was chucked off because some members typed some stuff and then edited it as if they never said whatever the post earlier.

3. NO ground rules of posting..
multiple posts are strickly banned
Advertisements in signatures is a strick no no in most forums
i also noticed a high resolution 100 kb photograph of an actress which takes ages to download.. and open repeatedly taking up 1/2 the screen space (mind u.. i use 1024 resolution and not 800-600) why is it required?

We dont like to force unnecessary rules. There are not many moderators.

Still point considered

4. Another thing.. as soon as we register.. one gets a tag line of aalsi manager...
Who gives the moderator to give such a tag to the member..
its the customers world.. u can never abuse him...
infact by coming online.. visiting ur site.. and registering he is proving that he is not aalsi

jst because he does not contribute to Mp.. u cant classify him as aasli.. first MP has to prove to the member that its worth contributing... and frankly am still waiting...

There isnt much money vishal... Even the Free CD's that we distributed were from my pocket We are still trying to recover that much amount of money.

PS : Before you decided to bash the hell out of forum.. you couldve just had a small chat with me . Its much better that way you know

how many ppl would respond to that mail
when i say respond.. does not mean.. i agree.. i disagree and stuff such as that..

as kartik said... the CD;s tht were ditributed all over in BMS and MBA colgs. had cost more thn 40K for 2000 CDs, and as far as the account money is concerned..all the mods r aware of the Bank Ac and 2 tell u..we r still far away in recovering the 40K amt...and also 2 tel u...this site wasnt opend 2 earn a handsome amt of money via business...and hence we dnt hv much 2 show n not req also...


there could be 10 more things that i can point out..


plz mention ur other 10 pints..we wanna knw..

You knw i have pretty much the same hobby being online long, checking out techie forums, knowing wtz happenin arnd the globe and cpl of humour sites 2 which i like to go through.. At the end of the day i mst hv checked out a 1000 sites ma self.. I have been members wit loadsa forums coz its jst a mail account u need to give and u get total access. "Wtz bad in that". But tht doesnt mean i hv stuck to those 1000 forums visiting everyday..!! Its just the choosen ones and as u said its a customer centric world out there..!! Nw u might be havin some reasons of your own for not being with mp on a daily base but i could provide u stats which shows hw many members are active today.. And wtz da base we are growing at.. I usually like to make good da mistakes, but depends on what you are pointing at and is it being justified..

I guess dis is already being answered by kartik i don see a reason to have probs with.. I believe as u jst posted u are a techy frndly person.. So u can always calculate the amount of money u need to pour in on new fast servers.

I dont see that much as a big prob, but yup it is to some extent but that's just because of variety of posts we have over here.. We started with bms, roped in mba projects, enlarged our base towards cat as we have loads of mba aspirans and not 2 forget e-books a variety of collection.. Its the diversity which has been uncontrolled and we can not associate each opening diversity with a sub forum.. So a clubbing is being done but to only those material and posts which are inter-related.. All completely diversified material do get a different allocation here..

No ground rules for posting i believe u havent seen my signature do follow it u will find ground rules for posting.. Its multiple posts in different threads that are banned, and not multiple posts in a single thread.. As u said better organisation is needed and this is just one of the way of gettin more organised.. Reposts are no good for any forums..
Advertisemnts hmm even we have the same rule no advertisement in signature but we have an open pact option werein the user can get in touch with the admin and if admin permits the signature is allowed.. I believe this is there in rules plz do go through.. And the rules arent made today or edited today its a back date 1 to prove we aint made any chngz after u put allegations.. coz i belive a reply to this post u would be questioning that...

I do agree to that but this are marketing gimmicks which are restricted to some of the members( founding members) who make them and are changed on regular basis.. I believe its a total right of every forum to have a thinking mind of itself... We here at mp like to motivate ppl by becoming active members. but as i said earlier its jst a marketin gimmick which changz with changing worlld..

P.s : Surely would like to implement new on this 1..!

Wow..!! Me to love that.. But lemme knw which forums have u been visiting which says ok today i hv made 10$ or made 1000$.. I hv been a regularite to visitors to major forums... I hvnt seen a single 1 doing that.. You knw the thing is its a free forum.. Where users have the right to say , post, deliver ... We dont intend to make a money making machine. We jst like the money to be spent back makin more people aware of mp and keeping the current servers alive to keep mp rockin..!!

there could be 10 more things that i can point out..
but i dont know what the reactiong to this things could be..
i dont even to know that i would be motivated enough to come and check the responses.. but i believe that these points would help

No kidding i love this.. You mst be the 35th member in lst 6 dyz frm whom i got this query about making the edit feature back on... Well yes thats correct i belive its been 6-7 since i have deactivated this option.. But being a techy frndly person and visiting so many forums i believe you will see a major transformation on all good forums regarding the edit option being jst provided to mods and admin.. Its basically to make users more liable to they posts and understand the core of their writings.. At the end of the day if there has been a post which badly needs an edit we are here..

Secondly u gave the best answer to the question.. Use the preview button it has been brought about to eliminate mistakes.. Usage of which can make ur posts erorr free when u hve a preview of it..

Sir being associated with u three years u would surely be knwing we started with phb gradually went to phbb and vbulletin... The keyword here is growth from good to better to best and dats wt vbulletin is the best forums in the industry..

Infact phb is a free forum thats wt we started. Than phbb better modules and still free forum aint that good.. But vbulletin is a professional forum which is not free u actually have to buy.. and y we doing it from free going to paid jst for more user convenience.. A better world for mp members..
