Mortgage filings drop as fixed rates jump: MBA (Market Watch)
Homeowners thought better of refinancing their mortgages as interest charged on fixed-rate home loans jumped in the final week of May, the latest data compiled by the Mortgage Bankers Association show. The seasonally adjusted 16.2% week-to-week drop in overall application volumes stemmed from a 24.1% decrease in refinancing activity.
