Mobile number portability (MNP)

Absolutely. It allows consumers to look for the best deal among carriers. Brazil recently implemented this with great success for consumers and increased competitiveness for carriers.

I think the MNP is not going to change the mobile landscape in a big way.People will switch the operators for first 6 months and after that it will stabilise. The same phenomenon has been observed worldwide. The MNP will clearly separate wheat from the chaff.Operators with poor signal quality and customer dissatisfation will loose the customers in herds.Small/Emerging operators will also see some customer movements.Big operators are going to gain from the MNP. The MNP will improve the customer experience to some extent. With the falling ARPUs the mobile operators will not be willing to compromise on the margins any further. So the MNP will not change the mobile landscape but will bring good consumer experience.

absolutely, with MNP coming in to picture the whole scenario has changed the market has become a more competitive place for companies foir this the company with good signal will remain while other fade out.they hv started enticing with many new offers

Hey everyone, I agree with the point of having MNP and believe that it should be made possible across states and not limitedto within cities. It will greatly facilitate moving and make the lives of people asier as a number is something you give everyone and sometimes it becomes difficult to update people with you number when it is changed.

:)

yeah buddy this MNP will really help, u can get good network and facility without changing number...many people shifting from BSNL and many joins BSNL, so its value for money

Its depend on call rates, network, i dont think that people who are using numbers from a long time, they will change service provider.

I dont agree with the fact that MNP would give more flexibility to customers, only the fact that numbers wont change would help, thats the only benefit, the hype around, better services, etc, is not really true, as there is minimum stay before switching, etc, when you switch.

You would still be cheated when switching in the form or hidden charges, and bad customer service, which prevails with service providers.

MNP would indeed give value for money to the consumers and the flexibility to change their operator incase of poor network quality, high tariff or poor customer service.
Moreover, telecom operators would roll out a series of schemes and incentives to retain customers!!!!

Hi all,

Here i want all your opinion about this topic.

Would Mobile number portability (MNP) help Indian consumer to get value for money, How??
yes but mobile number portability will again set the telecom sector on fire.....as price wars will begin...also to customers...it willl get confusing to know....on which number they are calling,,,they will never be able to make it out...whether the number they are calling of vodafone as free number...it is a vodafone number anymore....??confusion

First MNP should have been implemented in our nation before several years based on the development. It has come after many many years.

Its a great option to the subscriber. Those who are sensible to their call tariff will use this wonderful opportunity.
