Microsoft announced that it would bring its Siri-rival Cortana to Android. The latest news from the company now reveals that the app is made available as the public beta. Microsoft claims that the Cortana app will do most of the things it does on the PC or Windows Phone. "With the app, you can manage your hectic lifestyle by setting and getting reminders, searching the web on-the-go, tracking important information such as flight details as well as starting and completing tasks across all of your devices," Microsoft writes in a Windows blog post.

A beta version of Cortana launched today to US users of Android devices, and "we are planning to roll it out to other markets," Hendrich said. Microsoft said in May it was working on the Android version as well as another for Apple devices. According to research firm Gartner, Windows had just 2.5 per cent of the global Smartphone market in the second quarter compared with 82 percent for Google's Android and 14.6 percent for Apple's iOS.

Microsoft’s Cortana is embedded with ravishing features such as the ability to set Cortana as the home button press. Users will have to sign up for the public beta. It is currently available only in the US, but soon it will roll out to other markets too. You can download the uber Cortana app here.
