#MeatBan in Mumbai: Do Modi Government Hates Non- Vegetarians?
Mumbai is popularly known as the city of dream and the financial capital of India, but soon it seems like an end to the name and fame, and soon Mumbai will be recognized as ban-istan, a city that is famous for banning. Earlier, Modi Government faced harsh criticism when they have announced an imbecile and immature decision of banning beef. The Beef ban was a big blow to Mumbai and myriads of my non-vegetarians friends who lost many signature dishes. Now, here comes a Mumbai meat ban.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now agreed for a four-day ban on a sale of meat in Mumbai. A Slaughter of animals would not be allowed, meat and poultry shops and fish markets will be shut on — September 10, 13, 17 and 18 - the days of Jain ritual of Paryushan. Sources say Maharashtra's ruling BJP had asked for the number of days to be extended to eight, but it was rejected by the civic body. Even the BJP's ally Shiv Sena, believe that the decision is another form of violence where one’s choice is suppressed.
"I think this is another kind of violence in the name of non-violence. It is one's own choice to have what they want to use it for political reason is not right and we condemn it," said Sena spokesperson Neelam Gore. If BJP has introduced policies or issued decisions, Congress always got something that opposed their decision. "Is it for the government to decide what I eat, what I drink, what I wear, where I sleep, when I speak? What you are seeing across the country is the creeping spectre of fascism," Congress leader Manish Tewari said.
BJP has defended its decision by bringing religion in it. BJP's Shaina NC responded that "this is about respecting religious sentiment." There are tons of people out there who believe that this ban is a dastard and very cheeky tricks of BJP to lure votes. Twitter has been inundated with criticism for Modi government’s meat ban. Here are some epic responses.
