MBA (Finance) OR CA......Which is better?

I THINK BOTH MBA AND CA ARE EQUALLY GOOD IN THIER RESPECTIVE FIELDS . IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON WANT HE/SHE WANTS TO DO AND ABOUT THEIR CHARACTER. IF A PERSON IS INTROVERT AND DOES NOT WANT TO MIX WITH PEOPLE THEN DO CA OTHERWISE MBA. IN SIMPLE WORDS, IF YOU WANT TO AUDIT OTHERS ACCOUNTS DO CA AND IF YOU WANT OTHERS TO AUDIT YOUR ACCOUNTS DO MBA.
 
Comparing MBA Finance and CA is like comparing grapes and strawberries.

MBA Finance involves all aspects of business right from accounting to risk management and security analysis. Where as a CA has more to do with numbers and figures.

CA and MBA Finance people can work in the same company but will have entirely different profiles. A C.A will work for accounting and auditing but a Finance guy will work for the achievement of profit and shareholder's wealth maximization.

Certain jobs are purely in the CA domain: Statutory & Regulatory compliance, Consolidations, Taxation, International Accounting (GAAP), Internal Audit, Systems Audit, Transaction Advisory -- to name a few. Where as an MBA Finance guy/gal will manage

1. Relationship management

2. Operations

3. Credit risk assessment

4. Any other including including project finance, treasury, risk management, alternative channel management, etc.

A Finance person may know what CAs do but only superficially.

So, comparison between the two is not possible, untill or unless the one judging is biased.

I think it depends on your planned career path. If you want to go into consulting, I would recommend MBA. Otherwise, CA would prep you for a Chief Controller's position. Besides these two choices, why not try a CFA?
 
In my viewpoint, MBA (Finance) is much more useful as compared to CA, since by doing MBA u understand the mangerial aspects of finance which in turn helps u contribute much more...

MBA vs. CA

Just read this article -
7 MBA and 7 CA's are going from PUNE to Mumbai.
So both groups gather at Pune Station. Both groups are desperately trying
to prove their superiority.

SCENE 1 (PUNE - MUMBAI):

7 MBA take only 1 Ticket and 7 CA's buy all 7
tickets..
CA's are desperately waiting for TC to come......
When TC arrives,
All 7 MBA get in one toilet SO when TC knocks, one
hand come out with the ticket and the TC goes away....CA's say "Dekh lenge"
NOW on return Journey all of them don't get a direct
train to PUNE.
So they all decide to take a Passenger till Lonavala,
from there they can easily get a LOCAL to PUNE

SCENE 2 (MUMBAI - LONAVALA) :

CA's decided, "this time we will prove that we too are
equally SHAANE"....All 7 CA's take 1 Ticket

MBA don't buy ticket at all!!!!!..TC arrives....
ALL CA's IN ONE TOILET.ALL MBA IN THE OPPOSITE ONE..
One MBA gets out and knocks the door of CA's toilet,
One hand comes with the tickets, he takes the ticket
and comes in MBA Bathroom...
TC DRIVES out ALL the CA's from the toilet and they
are heavily fined........
tai tai fissssssss..

SCENE 3 ( LONAVALA -PUNE) :

SO now both the group on LONAVALA station. CA's
planning their move for last chance.. they board the local to PUNE .
This time CA's decide that they will play the same (1
ticket) trick.
ALL CA's take 1 tickets...MBA BUY all 7 tickets this
time...
SO TC Comes.. All MBA show their tickets.....
...
...
...
...
...
...
CA's are still searching for toilet in the
LOCAL...........

Moral of the Story : An MBA is any day smarter than an CA

Hi,
Many People doing MBA after CA does not mean that MBA is better than CA...undoubtedly, CA is any day better than MBA coz of the tough curriculum which u have to go thru and the hold on ur subjects as compared to MBA wherein you only get a "GENTLE" touch of the subjects. I myself am a CA and doing my MBA in Finance. I am doing this coz this seemed to me to be a gud combo acceptable in the market and to widen my horizon. Also, this is still a unique combination around in the job market.
I feel, having done your CA, you are able to appreciate many aspects of Finance, especially in subjects like Corp Fin, much better than astudent form another background.

they both hav ther own importance, but ca gives more detail and practical knowledge regarding finance as it involes internship in its course structure
while MBA in finance imparts managerial skills and one can take decisions regarding wethar to invest in a particular project or not or how to collect funds
for investment i.e it is more of analysis .......
 
i think CA is far better than MBA, why because of market value. its a big reality that CAs are getting good packeges as compare to MBAs.
 
i also think C.A. profession is good..........
i u wana compare mba finance and CA, then simply see the study portion of both u will came to understand what is best........
