Actually you are right to claim that the curriculum is mostly generalized topics. However, it is also a fact that as a general manager of a company you shall not be supposed to have very dense knowledge about finance as your finance manager, or shall you know any detail regarding the economy, marketing, etc.. I think mba gives time, place and obligations to pursue opportunities. To create network.. To earn technical and financial backgrounds..

wht u mean by in my RANGE??

its just going wague

just continuing the topic..

i think MBA is very imp bcoz:

the step for my Phd ( as mostly all knows i m planning for Phd so doing MBA)
second thing i think bcoz of my exposure in the mkt in terms of knowledge, good package and my growth in corporate so...

i think the demand in mkt

the way to achieve my dreams

the MBA is not just a degree but for me a way to be different than others.
i agree its being common
i think to do MBA is not tough but getting into it is tough

so YOGESH.. The HEAd... do DEfine ur range also...

chaitali...mine range is abundant...i m yet to travel my own range to figure it out...and moreover once u r satisfied that means once u hv defined ur range....then u r finished.....so i wud rather make progress by being unsatisfied.....rather than limiting myself in the range....u took the remark in a wrong way...my intention was nt to limit u or anybdy in this discussion....
nw u described ur purpose for doing mba very well....though i m still to figure out wat wud ur research paper be.....nw...again i hv been emphasizing that all the facts which are presented in support of mba degree are really good...and i do agree with them...but the point i wanted to make is...that given all the hype surrounding a mba degree hw much is the necessity...or what does a fresher mba from any college or university brings upon in the organization...or how many are sure of what to achieving by doing MBA??????

now i think the range of this topic has been defined....let the battle begins....

i agree that mba degree is not needed to be a manger..... mba degree is only to get a good placement instead people should go to some placement agency and get a good job as it will save the mba fees and time of two years....

he he..itni bhi buri nahin hai yar ye mba.....and ofcourse placement agency itni achi job shayad na dilwaye..which an mba degree wud give me

Getting an mba degree ofcourse does not make you a james bond out there in the corporate world but yeah it does gives you a licence to start being one.

i think the difference lies in the practical knowledge. With normal Bcom students basically focus on academics by mugging up n in MBA indian students learn to do things on their own n not bymugging up.

i was crazy about doing an mba, however i nw feel that the things we study in mba course curriculum are just too generlised, and for being a sucessful manager u do not need to have an mba degre...i feel that a regualr degree is gud enuf for getting u campus placements....wat do u say guys....
Well whatever we do whether engineering or MBA, the courses are more or less generalised. There is little practical emphasis given and hence, the degree is really namesake. Practicality comes from experience and that is why B-schools insist on a work-ex. However, the value of degree has its own important.

MBA is has become a necessity nowadays... but for different reasons... nowadays, the cost of training a new employee is just too high in India. Plus, there is a good chance that the employee may leave the organization right after the training.. Hence, the companies prefer if the students have some prior theoretical knowledge as to how the corporate sector really works.... I am doing my MBA now, and i know that there is more to this course than just a placement. There is a lot to learn about the corporate world. And Hence, MBA has become a necessity of sorts. I agree that there have been many non-MBA managers in the past, but for every one non-MBA, there are ten other people who have become efficient managers after MBA. Hence, a good NON-MBA manager is more of a exception than a norm.

hello so the battle has began.. hmm

1st of all being an MBa student i think the hype is necessary and of course u be a james bond title here

the job offer in above discussion says going to placement agency.. than i wuld ask directly go to placement agency after ur HSC or culd do a simple traditional course than BMS.
i dont knw u r aware or not but there are many good placement agency who only conduct placements only for post graduate student and no one else
so placement matters

and talking abt specialising in subject so better to be a masters of all in a competetive world as one master is not enough
live example is i have on of my frnd who have got 2 specialisation in mba only frm pune university
so degree matters a lot.

mba hype is necessary to increase ots value
and today so many colleges r offering diff mba with also diff specialisation

this is wht i think and no grudges on any1

mba is necessary for me for my research work and
being a female i have limited my range bcoz this is wht i call planning tht i m planning and i want to focus on this things so i dont misss my goal focus
range u r talking ... may be u thnk but i think when u have decied to work on ur interest.. range comes with it...

so not limiting to range lats have a battle

hehehehe

bye

it is nessasary .we need something which is professional . Indian school education is noway near of professionalism. we still studing 100 yrs old science and after that we just shouting of lack of scietists.

well MBA does pays off... here you learn the pratical part of corporate world... the case studies do give you a brief idea how things world in the corporate world. MBA is not must but requirement to get in the corporate world.... its a pratical side of the industry.
