It 's not same for all the person. I have seen few person who proved better in Corporate sector although not having work experience. But Yeah.. Prior experience proves fruitful for student pursuing MBA.
While resumes and experience have been a major determinant surrounding entrance qualifications, the trend has turned toward accepting younger, less experienced students at business schools including Stanford, Harvard and The University of Pennsylvania.
Stanford’s Business School admissions criteria have not changed much over the years, Bolton said. Most importantly, professors and administrators seek candidates who have proven their academic aptitude, demonstrated potential managerial skills and add diversity to the class.
but in some cases, Unlike most educational courses abroad, for MBA courses, you will, almost without exception, need at least three years of work experience in a managerial role.
In some cases, this figure can be even higher. It is rare that graduates without work experience will be accepted for an MBA programme unless s/he is the most exceptional and talented student.
HBS does not require a minimum number of years’ work experience prior to entering the MBA program, and it is important for you to assess your own readiness when deciding to apply. Successful candidates have the ability to demonstrate strength in our criteria regardless of the number of years of their work experience. We believe our MBA Program can be impactful for students with as little as 2-3 years of work experience.
From what i can understand i would say that the main reason for why B schols ask for work experience is that they want students that have a better understanding of the business environment, and you cant get that from a text book student alone, because when studying it is better if you are able to mentally apply the things that you learn to real life situations in the work place, but some schools dont ask for it because their methods of teaching are more applied based so you learns those skills on the side of your studies.
thi is not exactly true.
actually the person who has worked in a company will be knowing the work culture, how work is done , and a lot more that is to be tought in mba
Work experienced people are preferred bcoz there experience help them to relate the theoritical concepts being taught with the practical business situations...moreover it also helps you to decide about the specialisation when you are opting for your PG..
cos MBA makes a lot of sence if you are looking to improve the business sence in yourself........... that can come only if you have worked at a good level for atleast 3-4 years
