Manpower and Staff Productivity
The total staff strength of the Bank stood at 11624 in March 2004 as compared to 11723 in March 2003. Of the total staff, 3615 are officers, 5462 are clerical staff, 1925 are sub staff and 622 are part time employees in subordinate cadres.
The number of women employees as at the end of March 2004 stood at 1942 consisting of 339 officers and 1211 award staff constituting 16.7% of total employees in the Bank as at the end of March 2004, there are 243 employees belonging to handicapped category and 475 employee to Ex servicemen category.
With the increase in Bank’s business, the staff productivity measured in terms of average business per employee, improved from Rs.1.94 crore in 2002-03 to Rs.2.49 crore in 2003-04, registering an increase of 28.4%.
EMPLOYEES BELONGING TO SC/STs
Out of the total 11624 employees on the rolls of the Bank as at the end of March 2004, 1491 belong to SC category and 551 to ST category.
A separate cell for SC/STs has been created in Personnel Department, HO to look into the matter pertaining to the SC/ST employees and also to supervise prompt implementation of Government of India guidelines in service matters in respect of SC/STs. SC/ST cells are functioning in all the regional offices as well. Bank is arranging pre recruitment/pre promotion training for SC/STs regularly.
