Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 has announced a major change this time with a change in the exam pattern. The candidates will be tested for the same areas before like Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Ability, but the change being inspite of 3 sections as before, the test would have only 2 sections.
The first section will ask questions to assess students’ quantitative ability and data interpretation (DI), and the second section will be focus on verbal ability and logical reasoning.
The statement also said the two sections will have to be attempted one after the other within separate time limits. Candidates will be given 70 minutes to answer each section, and will be timed by an on-screen countdown timer.
Once a candidate runs out of time for the first section, s/he will have no option but to move on to the second and final section.
The idea behind the changes is to make sure students score equally well in both sections, and are not assessed on the basis of the overall score.
The number of questions in the exam remains unchanged.
So the final word is 30 Questions in each section with 140 minutes, 70 minutes for each section.
