The Jan Lokpal Bill (Citizen's ombudsman Bill) is a draft anti-corruption bill drawn up by prominent civil society activists seeking the appointment of a Jan Lokpal, an independent body that would investigate corruption cases, complete the investigation within a year and envisages trial in the case getting over in the next one year.

Drafted by Justice Santosh Hegde (former Supreme Court Judge and present Lokayukta of Karnataka), Prashant Bhushan (Supreme Court Lawyer) and Arvind Kejriwal (RTI activist), the draft Bill envisages a system where a corrupt person found guilty would go to jail within two years of the complaint being made and his ill-gotten wealth being confiscated. It also seeks power to the Jan Lokpal to prosecute politicians and bureaucrats without government permission.

Anna Hazare, anti-corruption crusader, began a fast-unto-death today, demanding that this bill, drafted by the civil society, be adopted.
Retired IPS officer Kiran Bedi and other known people like Swami Agnivesh, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Anna Hazare and Mallika Sarabhai are also part of the movement

I would say "Lokpal ne kiya kamaal....... desh mein machayee dhamaal.......aam aadmi jab khele apni chaal............ to bade badon ka hua hain haal............"

Whats your say on this?????????:SugarwareZ-266::SugarwareZ-266:

Re: Lokpal ne kiya kamaal.......

Corruption is a common term in India and we all are aware of it..now no one gets surprised hearing the story of bribery instead if you say someone did your work without asking for under the table ..seems a shock

Everyday there is new ghotala in india,we are fed up with these news,at last someone has stood against corruption,it our moral duty to support him.

ANNA HAZARE has given a victory to India... I have so many events in my mind right now...

1st - 2012 world coming to end ---- PEOPLE BECAME CONSCIOUS AND STARTED WORKING HARD AND GOT INTO PROPER LINE.

2ND - THE WORLD CUP OF INDIA. THE REAL HAPPINESS OF INTEGRITY.

3RD - NOW FINALLY THE DAY WHERE THE DREAMS OF CORRUPTION FREE INDIA... SEEDS ARE BEEN PUTTED INTO EARTH... COMING YEARS WILL GIVE US THE TREE

Their efforts are commendable. Al last something is being done.

But whether their efforst will have the desired effect, only time will tell.

Merely passing of the law - Jan Lok Pal Act - will make no dent in the seventy year old malady. We have a plethora of laws; no one obeys them anyway. There has to be participation in the movement by the main sections of the society. That is, the body of Government servants, right from the bureaucrats to the office clerks - have to be part of the nationwide movement in a real Gandhian spirit. It should be mandatory for every office to have a society formed under IAC. I read a notice in one of Doctor's office in California: "This practice is a member of .....organization under oath not to accept fee sharing or ordering unnecessary procedures/tests." Every office must display a board saying that bribes will not be accepted in this office. Somehow, the act should make it easy for private organizations to actively participate in the IAC movement. My third and last suggestion is about departmental inquiries. 90% inquiries are closed without results; the procedures are time consuming and lack urgency. Many officers are burdened with large number of inquiries and they do nothing till the day of their retirement. The framers of Jan Lok Pal Bill should give special attention to this.
