Learn from the Vedas___part 3

The Vedanta Way [/b]

Vedanta[/b] refers to the parts of Vedas which confer to Goal-centric preaching. The moment we hear this popular world we see a visual of a Sadhu[/b] in deep meditation. His appearance is so camouflaged with nature that even birds have started to make nests on his unkempt hair. He is aloof from all worldly ties and en-route self realization[/b] –eventually Moksha[/b] or freedom from all cobwebs of humanity, transcending to be a flicker in the flame of the Almighty.

So what is in Vedanta that should be taken up by Managers , Entreprenuers , or any professional in general if it doesn’t have an objectivity in it for the common man who still wishes to enjoy his Grihasthi ( Household ties/carnal & material pleasures) and Mohmaya ?

Sure we can say that the ultimate ends of Vedanta confer to Moksha and Liberation[/b] but that doesn’t take away from the fact that there is a lot to be learnt on the road that leads there. The quantum of wisdom that has been preserved through the annals of history for prosperity in life, market and society are not to be taken lightly.

Self-realization[/b] is not something that you wake up one day and end up possessing. It is the result of integration of small parcels of our lifetime lived with intelligence while eyeing constant progress; free from the chains that are self-imposed due to intrinsic flaws, envy and discontent[/b].

Every human being has the wish to rise above his peers. Be it a Hotshot rookie manager or a Tribal living in the forests of Mangalore. In fact the very essence of Vedanta[/b] is to breed content from discontent over the course of time, so that eventually the individual will one day be full to the brim with content and lead himself to austerities.

It is of uttermost significance that we strive to excel in whatever field we have chosen for our livelihood vis-à-vis endeavor for opportunities to chisel our inner character finely.

As long as a person is up and walking, he comes in close contact with things, organisms and other people; not voluntarily but as a compulsion. If a man is steadfast in his niche with the ability to make impromptu decisions – of firm will after understanding the concerned parties and keeping egalitarianism on his agenda; there is nothing and no one in this world who can enslave his soul. The body YES, but Soul NO.

Sri Ramakrishna told a story to the listeners to explain about Vedanta :

Once on a tree there were two birds, one at the upper branch, majestic and divine, and the other at a lower branch, restlessly pecking fruits, which turned to be sometimes sweet and sometimes bitter. Every time, when the restless bird ate a bitter fruit, it looked at the upper bird and climbed a branch up. This occurred a number of times and eventually the bird reached the topmost branch. There it was not able to differentiate itself from the divine bird, and then it learnt that every time there was only one bird in the tree, the upper bird, which is described as divine, the real form of the other restless bird after it transcended from its delusions. This is the thought of Vedanta. The fruits in the story are Karma(actions both good and bad), the restless bird denotes a human soul, and the majestic bird denotes the Absolute entity.
