Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body created by an Act of Parliament (No. 61 of 1956 and as amended by Act No. 10 of 2006). Established in April 1957, it took over the work of the former All India Khadi and Village Industries Board. KVIC is aan autonomous body which functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Agro and Rural Industries, Government of India (now known as Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises). KVIC has its headquarters in Irla, Vile Parle (W).
Over the past 50 years, KVIC has done a commendable job of promoting khadi and village industries. KVIC has till date employed 88 lakh people and has had sales of about 17,000 crore. In the 11th year KVIC has been planning to triple the target of employment and sales
