CET FAQs
General
The institutes which qualify for the admission process are:
Approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi
Recognised by the Government of Maharashtra
Affiliated to one of the nine Non-Agricultural/Non-Technological Universities in Maharashtra State
Following are the types of Institutes in the Maharashtra state covered by these rules:
All Government Management Institutes
All University Departments of Management
All University Managed Management Institutes
All Unaided Management Institutes
Eligibility Criteria
In order to secure admission to first year of two-year full time MMS programme, the candidate should fulfill the following criteria:
Passed with minimum 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of backward class candidates from Maharashtra only) in any Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
OR
Appeared for the final year examination of any Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities

About the CET Written Test
The question paper is set only in English
The examination would be of 2 ½ hours duration and would have a maximum of 200 marks
The examination would consist of multiple choice objective type questions
There would be NO Negative marking
The marks for the CET are considered for admission only during the current academic year and are not allowed to be carried forward to the next year
Group Discussions and Personal Interview
All candidates who appear for the CET are eligible for the GD and PI.

What is CET ?
• CET stands for “Common Entrance Test” – conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra.
• In case you need to pursue an MBA Degree course from any of the affiliated universities in Maharashtra, you need to take this test.

Who is eligible to appear for the CET ?
• The candidate should either be a graduate with minimum 45% marks or in the final year graduation.
• In case he/she is in the final year graduation, he/she should be in a position to submit his final mark sheet by the September of the year of the CET.
When is CET held ?
• Every year CET is held on the last Sunday of May or the first Sunday of June. This year, it was held on the first Sunday of February.
What is the marks distribution in CET?
The CET is made up of 5 components :
1. The Written Test :
• The written test comprises of 200 marks, divided in the following areas :
Verbal Reasoning - Approx. 50 marks
Quantitative Reasoning - Approx. 50 marks
Logical Reasoning - Approx. 100 marks
• The written test has to be completed in 2.5 hours
* It must be noted that the CET is not divided into any sections. All the questions are spread across the entire paper randomly.
2. Group Discussion (GD) :
• The GD comprises of 17 marks
• There are usually 10 members in a team and is evaluated by a panel of 3.
• A typical CET GD lasts for 20–30 min.
3. Personal Interview (PI) :
• The Personal Interview comprises of 17 marks
• The interview is usually conducted by a panel of 2.
• The PI usually lasts for 20-30 min.
4. Academics :
• Marks for SSC or 10th Standard
2 marks if you have more than 75%
1 mark if you have between 60% to 75%
• Marks for HSC or 12th Standard
2 marks if you have more than 75%
1 mark if you have between 60% to 75%
5. Work Experience:
• 2 marks if you have more than 3 years of Work Experience
• 1 mark if you have 1 to 3 years of Work Experience
• The Experience should satisfy the following 3 conditions :
(a) It should be had after Graduation
(b) It should be full-time
(c) It should be in a listed company
So, totally CET comprises of 240 marks. Every student gets his score out of 240 marks and based on the marks each candidate gets a unique merit rank.
You may wonder, if two candidates are tied at the same score, how can they get a unique merit rank. This is so because there are many tie - breakers. In case two candidates have the same score out of 240, the candidate having higher marks in the written test is given the preference. In case even this is the same, the person having higher marks in graduation is given preference. Then comes the HSC marks, the SSC marks and so on. At the end of it all, every candidate gets a unique merit rank, based on which the centralised admissions take place.
