JBIMS Prayaag’11- Annual Inter-B School and Corporate Festival

"Prayaag[/i]" which stands for the confluence of thoughts provided by industry stalwarts and students alike, is the annual corporate and inter b-school festival of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) held in the month of October every year. It is an event which has reached its seventh year now. It is awaited with anticipation across B- schools and scales new heights every year with the events getting bigger and better and the competition getting tougher. This year the festival was from 21st to 23rdOctober 2011[/b].

Prayaag '11 has been dedicated to "Change[/b]" - Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. Change represents change in society, environment, business practices, and mindsets. It will focus on efforts taken to Change business concepts and society for the better of the nation and mankind. So be ready to "Be the CHANGE you want to SEE[/b]"

Following the tradition of having industry stalwarts coming down and addressing students, this year, we had Mr. Nitin Pitale, CEO and Director, Camlin Alphakids [/b]as the Chief Guestfor the inauguration ceremony. Prayaag'11 revolved around the theme of 'Be the change you want to see' and Mr. Nitin Pitale exemplified this change. Camlin is known for being the most popular stationery brand in the country. With Camlin Alphakids, Mr. Nitin Pitale and Camlin are boldly pursuing change in the uncharted territory of education.

The chief sponsors for Prayaag’11 were State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, GIC Re, MT Educare, Bank of Maharashtra, Idea, Flipkart, Mint, Spykar, Barista and Dare2Compete.

Prayaag’11 had numerous events that challenged onespotential to the brink and encouraged some of the brightest minds in the country to raise their opinions and view points on the changing scenario in the management and the social world and put forth path-breaking ideas that would shape the future scheme of things. Some of the events at Prayaag’11 were:

· Idea Finquilab[/b]: The M&A event where students get a chance to get into the shoes of an I-Banker and crack the deal.

· D-Street Show[/b]: D-Street show was an event that madeparticipants put on their thinking caps and devise a strategy backed up with financials to woo the investors in uncertain times.

· SBI presents The Apprentice: [/b]This event gave students an opportunity to showcase their Summer projects to Corporates and battle it out with the best projects from all over the country.

· SBI presents The Boardroom[/b]: As the future CXOs, the contestants got a chance to live the dream as early as NOW and experience the dynamics of the boardroom. This event evaluated communication skills, strategy making and management skills.

· GIC-RE presents REInvent[/b]: India is going global, and this event required participants to don their creative hats and get their brains ticking for this unique International Business Strategy Event.

· Brandeed[/b]: An event that focused on spoof advertising. Amul, the country's best selling table-butter brand is well known for its spoof based outdoor ad campaigns. The question however was, "Can you spoof them?"

· MT Educare presents Markshaala[/b]: This was a unique event designed to face the challenge in service marketing and required designing a strategy for permanently establishing and expanding the MT UVA brand.

· UBI presents Kwizkraft: [/b]The highlight of Prayaag:The corporate quiz contest, a flagship event of Prayaag.

· SBI presents Clausewitz Clique[/b]: The rules are that there are no rules. An event where participants had to prove their mettle. They had to convince the judges that they are the best business brains of the country.

· B-Social[/b]: An event which gave importance to the social aspect. This event aimed at analysing the problems faced by NGOs and suggesting a robust and sustainable model for working of the NGO.

Like every year, JBIMS had excellent participation from all over the country, including B-Schools like the IIMs, XLRI, FMS , IIFT, IMI Delhi, NMIMS, SIBM,also saw participation from the corporate side, including Nomura, Axis, HDFC, RBI, ICICI, HUL, Cadbury,TCS, Oracle, etc.

All in all, it was 3 days of pure fun and lots of learning with the various technical and many On-The-Spot events. Prizes worth Rs. 8 lakhs were distributed, in the form of cash and gift vouchers. Keeping alive the old tradition, Prayaag’11 concluded with the declaration of winners of the ‘A vs. Alpha’ gangwar.
