I agree. It's arguable that the USA is a meritocracy, but - from over here - it would appear to only be the relatively privileged (ie, educated) proportion of the USA population that have a chance of the "American Dream".
It sometimes looks, from here, that the USA has two classes, the middle class, and the underclass. Lots of people on Volconvo like to pretend the underclass doesn't exist.
