Is the US a "classless" society?

I agree. It's arguable that the USA is a meritocracy, but - from over here - it would appear to only be the relatively privileged (ie, educated) proportion of the USA population that have a chance of the "American Dream".

It sometimes looks, from here, that the USA has two classes, the middle class, and the underclass. Lots of people on Volconvo like to pretend the underclass doesn't exist.

Class just about determines everything in our lives. It determines where we live, how well we are educated, who our friends are, what we do for a living, and what we come to expect from life. Regardless of where you find yourself on the economic spectrum, class determines nearly every aspect of our lives.In many ways, people`s views of the United States are that it is a classless society

The UK classes are birth, or name, or title related.

The US has three classes.
They are Money related.

Upper class is similar to the UK.
Some sissy bastard has a rich dad and they are rich and it gets passed down from jerk to jerk...
Also some come up with an idea or product and make it.
Or they have a talent or capability that makes them famous.
Like Sir Elton John or Sir Paul McCartney.
Money did it for them.

We have a middle class.
They work and can live comfortably. Mostly middle class are the people with money left over at the end of the month. They shop, eat out, go on cruises or vacations. They are the money that keeps the country going.

The lower class try to just get by. We can't fit in the middle class because we haven't the money. We are always behind on bills. We get in trouble for not having insurance. We are the problem in America. The other two classes don't want us to survive. They fire us all the time. They take away our homes. They won't let us sleep in the park. The government gives us enough for food but nothing for toilet paper, razors, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. We can eat. That is it. We have no hope for the future. The other classes say we are lazy and won't work. I would work. I need a vehicle and insurance. I need to shave and get cleaned up before someone would hire me.
Then I might make $800 a month but no apartments around here for $800 a month. I would need to eat and buy gas and pay for the insurance. Never mind. You see it is almost impossible to move up.
I will always be low class...
The class system is about money here same as yours in the end...
