Is the Policy of Mahatma Gandhi good for Today's World

The policy which Mahatma gandhi use to Follow of "Ahinsa" is it worth to follow in today's world...that is

If some one slaps on your One Cheek what should u do??

Should you Forward him another one ??

as its is against the Neuton Law of Motion

"Every Action has as Equal and opposite Reaction"...

what do u feel on it...

please comment on it..

Although physics and emotions are not the same thing, but personally, i feel mahatma's philosophy won't be fully acceptable to all. Personally i would settle for a philosophy which involves restrain as well as the use of power.

One should keep in mind that Mahatma alone, was not responsible for the freedom. The britishers were also petrified by the increasing power of the revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and his comrades, Netaji, etc.

Hence, one should use the policy of non violence as long as the other person doesnt think of us as cowards, yet show him power, to show that we're not cowards too.

I think the best example can be seen from the wars which India has fought. India has never ever attacked any other country, but when its freedom was under threat, it fought with its might and yet spared the life of its enemy after the war.

Even in mythology, Krishna and Rama has set similiar examples.
 
i agree in totality with gaurav's views as they are balanced.

also one should delve in this respect that why the other person is slapping??
coz may be he is justified in doing so as it may be result of previous action by us....

i believe e very action has its cause.....everything has reason behind it....the only thing iswho judges whats right and whats wrong.....actually right and wrong are relative qualities....whats right for me may be wrong for you....thats the reason for disparity in views....

in a nutshell, if u think its unjust, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth

Or if its your fault, then u deserve it buddy!!!!

I personally, would love to see "passive non violent resistance" take over the world but sad to say there are still the Kim Jon Ils, Vladimir Putins, Hugo Chaves's and the huge hungry Communist Chinese that have no concept or idea of ever practicing non-violence...
If GANDHISM could be practised , a lot of economic develpoment would also take place as investment in War would be saved...
 
The topic raises an important issue.
Is the huge investment in defense justified when in a country like India,there are millions starving of basic necessities.

I personally feel his policy may not bring you good all the time.. His policies can be followed but not in all situation ....

Following Gandhian path is good but not the ideal way.. People around you will keep on attacking you.. can not be applied everywhere ..

We are living in a world of A Raja and Kalmadi's and we talk of Gandhi...in few years from now....Mahatma Gandhi will be Mahatma- One more photos to be added to our Pooja Rooms. We are living in such a sorry state of affairs!
 
I really don't thinks Gandhis phoilosophy is that relevant in light of the medicohondroise dilemma the AHDM of Hyderabad is facing!

Ahimsa is the HIGHEST form and PEAK of BRAVERY!

It may not soudn very logical, practical or realistic, but we should know that a few legends like Mahatmaji have successfully practiced it!
 
Today we can follow gandhi's policy AHINSA, i think newton's law sounds same "Every Action has as Equal and opposite Reaction" if Mr A slap u, u'll slap u hard..... but its quite difficult to control ur outcome n behave like human being (this will immediately affect Mr A's behavior,.,.. ) NOW ur "ghandhi behavior" is EQUAL & OPPOSITE to Mr A.

Agreed : but if i talk about us ; in future u r a manager n ur communication will aggressive(violence) so how will u handle d situation?
a calm mind is much better than a hot mind. so gandhi's policy are good to follow. but if circumstances are need d action ,. take a legal action. so that ball remain in ur court.
