management is basicially an applied aspect, as the professional grows taller in experience he/she gains different professional skills which helps in achieving long term as well as short term goals of the organisation ,academic excellance is not very much handy in this case ,mba along with professional experience is more than sufficient to run an organisation successfully
No...but better if you have done it...In academics it will help in securing higher positions and in the industrial organisations i will help to achive personal & organisational goals..
Lastly the question is half...its not clear, must in what context.
In my opinion, PhD in Mamagement is must for those engineers who want to go for academic jobs for management topics. For others, your engineering degree and MBA sufficient for your jobs in industry
Phd sounds beneficial for people who are research oriented in academics.. five years is a long time.. a good experience in management over the years seems more logical...
No, not really, unless your target job demands specifically so that you should have some research experience etc. PhD won't do much help - in fact it is the effective application of whatever you've learnt in MBA - or the degree before that which would help. Just keep the good work up, keep eyes open and keep on learning as long as you work!
If you want to go to an institute as a faculty then you should be requiring a doctorate degree along with industry exposure.... but for corporate growth, experience is the key thing that counts..!!
It depends on what career you wish to choose. If you want to pursue a career in academics then yes, it is. Else, for corporate jobs, you need more of specific industry experience and skill post MBA rather than a PHD.
No way it is a must. Management is all about to know something and also use that in business. It is all about managing things efficiently and effectively as well. Thus rather than PhD which counts more is the practical experience and exposure to criticality of real life situations instead of Bookish Phd
