Is MBA worth it?

Hi Guys, I was wondering what sort of career we will have after completing MBA. Will it be worth the long time invested in these business studies?

Hi,
It seriously depends on you. If you are well into marketing kind of thing, MBA will be worth it. If you believe you have exceptional communication skills and also highly persuasive boldness, then you might very well go into MBA. Or if your heart lies somewhere else, please persuade it.

I have read somewhere that only 10 out of 100 MBA students really grasp the core meaning and usefullness of MBA, for rest of the others its just a degree, it doesnt help anywhere in their life except as a qualification..

Think and decide..

All the best.

you can ask this question to Billions of working MBA Professionals across the globe.

Completely over rated comment. Total population in the world is x billion. Dont see billions of MBAs :)

Getting back to the topic, Is MBA worth it?

The answer completely depends on your goal in life. If you want to acquire a specific skill set, you should take up a module that compliments it.. If your job requires an MBA degree for a promotion, then you definitely need one.

Is MBA worth it is a very subjective question which changes from person to person and from each individuals experience.

Ya a MBA is worth it only when you have worked in specific areas of one's own choice. One must have a good work experience and only after that one must pursue a masters programme .They way it is followed abroad must be followed here in India here as well ..no student must be enrolled to a MBA programme without Work Experience

it depends on which cllg u do it from, so people doing it from good institutes find it useful as they get value adds to them

Hi,
Commenting upon whether MBA is worth, differ from person to person. No doubt some people made it big even though they were no MBA graduate. You can take the example of the great Dhirubhai Ambani. However, there are people who have completed post graduation in management and are successful (read "Stay Hungry Stay Foolish")

In my opinion if you do MBA its good for you. The reason being it provide in-depth knowledge of every aspect of a business. I am pursuing my MBA and am enjoying every bit of it. You tend to get a lot of knowledge of how a business is run and also you get to know very small-small things which we usually are ignorant of it but prove a worth understanding them.

So I suggest you all to give a thought on my reply before not joining B-school

Thank you

I reckon nobody will have a specific answer to this question. My personal experience says that MBA was of good worth to me. I completed it last September and got a promotion and a cool hike during the year end appraisal [:P]
I am a happy man... ;)

The worthiness of an MBA is directly linked to the tier (in simple terms, ranking) of the institute offering MBA.

Tier I institutes: like IIMs, XLRI, IMT, ISB, FMS, NITIE, SP Jain etc. you definitely get placed in top companies and get good packages as well.

Tier II institutes: like FORE, NMIMS, Symbiosis & Sinhgad college etc. you may get placed in good companies, if you are bright, dynamic and have good communication skills. If you do not have these skillsets, chances are high that you may line up with students of tier III /IV institutes.

Tier III/IV institutes: The list is really long and ever growing! There is not really any great benefit here, as per my personal experience, many of these MBA students are aligned with other streams of PG education and at times even graduation. However, this MBA might help you in getting promotions at a later stage of your career, but it will definitely NOT set you in a separate league, when getting entry level jobs.

now a days, everybody wants to do MBA;but if we do MBA in a well known institute with specialization relevant to our UG, it is valuable.

Its worth it only if you come out of it looking like an MBA. you can do it from a normal institute also but when it comes down to it. when you go for an interview you should have the attitude and the brains to carry the MBA tsg.

i dont think so it is worth doing mba for a fresher as they dont take the bigger picture in mind, which is very much taken care by an experienced person.

days or rather years back i guess i had a different opinion, but now it just biols down to one thing, Management either from grade 1 colleges or within the company itself is worth while, rest all are the same. doesnt matter at all
