Is it right to punish treason with death?

We all know about the WikiLeaks situation with the profiles of 10,000 American soldiers that were leaked to the public. Unfortunately, we can't punish the man who owns WikiLeaks, but what about the treacherous soldier who gave him the files? Is it right to kill this soldier for potentially threatening thousands of lives? What's to stop them from doing it again?

So, my question is: do you think the person who gave the files should be punished by death?

I don't think death punishment is justified in any case!!!
