Is bollywood ready to take on Hollywood????????

Bollywood does need to compete. It can create its own segment in the Market.
Look at the number of non big movie countries that compete in Sundance.

I saw a Movie in Sundance From Jordan called "Captain Abu Raed" it was better than any hollywood movie I have seen for a long time. It didn't depend on fancy effects. The cinematography was better than all of the Hollywood movies. And this is the First ever Motion picture for Jordan.

Bollywood is not ready to take on Hollywood.I would blame a part on the Technical aspects. On the other hand the story and creativity ofthe two indsutry can't be compared.Hollywood is able to take a small concept and present it in an amazing sense.Though we have equally qualified ppl in India, still we are nt able to match tht of the Hollywood(itz pathetic :().Of late,I'm atleast able to spot a few movies like Lagaan,TZP,RDB which are better than normal B'wood movies. Moreover,I feel Heroines are mostly used for skinshows in B'wood. There are lot of stories that doesn't require heroines but has it only for the commercial aspects. The good fact abt the B'wood is the comedians are found in most of the films. You don't find tht in H'wood often.

In Bollywood,Story for the hero/heroine.
In Hollywood,Hero for the story.

-Deepak.

Well, Deepak, no hard feelings but what a co-incidence that the three indian movies you mentioned, which are better than the normal ones are of Aamir Khan's. Moreover, I think that Hollywood also uses female actors for the purpose of skin exposure. And, if you look into their large porno empire then I don't think anyone is more pervert than them.

As far as comedy and songs are concerned, they have also been a part of Hollywood in the classical times (I watched a few when TNT Channel used to broadcast)

In film making, the story is always written first rather than signing a cast for it in the first place. Hollywood/Bollywood follow the same concept. There are always exceptions and they should be least considered while deciding the working of a multi-billion industry.

Lastly, no hard feelings, just an observation.

i think, its still time b4 we can do it..
we have movies on very macro subjects like general love stories or family drama but they go in to the micro aspects of things for eg. i was recently watching movie named Fred Claus, showing what would happen if Santa had a naughty brother; or look pick up any movie, all are focused on general aspects of like which we do not look for..

it may be still too early to say but we have the ability and willingness and thats what matters... see the reliance and dreamworks alliance.

with the talent pool in bollywood, there is no doubt in the fact that indian actors can create e new world in hollywood...actors like hrithik signing foreign films should be an inspiration for many others here.....

he he he he...nice joke..see the scale and audience for hollywood movies...even in financial crisis they make spend to make big movies...we mathing them is tough forget take over

actually hollywood movies are highly funded by the large business houses and if u talk about the bollywood some of the industrialist are paying attention in this area but it take time to compete to the hollywood.

I think Bollywood is ready to take on Hollywood with superb movies like A Wednesday, Rock On and AMIR and many more to come. This year directors have really worked on to make films with a difference.

Cheers!

I feel Indian Directors are only good at imitating and they will blindly copy the Script and Dialogues from Hollywood Blockbusters... For more people to go to the theaters, Bollywood should come up with interesting concepts...

I would like to say that we still have a long way to go technically in competition to Hollywood but taking no credit away from all the new Bollywood directors, actors and the entire team things are improving and we have immense talent cropping up, with a bright bright future ahead for Indian Cinema.

things which they show in bollywood are not really applicable in real life. if bollywood want to overtake hollywood it has to have realism in films

hi,
i think bollywood.... or just Indian cinema.. has really started to show distinct signs of creativity :D in the past 10 years or so, there have been a few films that were absolutely original in their content... examples... mr & mrs iyer, khosla ka ghosla, mitr my friend...
really thoughtful entertaining, funny movies.

at least content wise if nnot technique wise, indian movies are comming of age in a way. only if these types of movies continue to be made and appreciated, bollywood will be able to create an reputation as good cinema, if not the Baap of Hollywood ;)

ciao...

no ways... there's lot of difference.. in terms of technology, the originality n hollywood movies are short.. bollywood needs to stop makin long movies which tend to bore the viewers
