Blackmailing can be defined as intimidation for money. Blackmailing someone differs and has got many aspects right from the very serious one like ones who ask money against life of someone etc to very innocent ones like as elderly blackmailing the younger to do some work for him/her.

Threatening people with their secrets isn't a good way to go as it can backfire and doesn't accomplish much. You can't force a person to talk to you or hang out with you. It "a" makes you sound possesive and psychotic and "b" doesn't really work because the person will end up fostering negative feelings towards you even if they don't say it to your face..

in all ways if you are forcing some one with out his/her permission and due course you are willing from them to do some thing you like not as he/she want is blackmailing.. it is any offense and should be punishable...

It is Illegal.
It may certainely be beneficial to the blackmailer for he may get money or sum thing in return but one should also think about the one who is been blackmailed. It may ruin one;s life also.
