ABOUT LETTERKENNY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY :
Letterkenny Institute of Technology is a third level institution serving Donegal and the North West of Ireland. The Institute awards Higher ertificates, Bachelor Degrees and Honours Degrees in Business, Computing, Design, Engineering, Nursing and Science. The Institute also offers tuition and research to Master's Degree level.

MISSION :
To continuously develop as an academic institution of international repute, serving regional and national needs and pursuing, in a collaborative fashion, an ambitious progressive agenda that delivers on the aspirations of its vibrant Institute population and its external stakeholders.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS :
In the academic year 2006/07 there were students from 31 countries registered at LYIT.

WHERE IS LETTERKENNY :
Letterkenny, a growing and lively town, is located in the North West of Ireland in County Donegal. It is situated at the base of Lough Swilly, about a half hour's drive from Derry City. Driving time from Dublin or Galway is about three and a half hours. The landscape of Co. Donegal is spectacular and very varied. There are rugged mountains, miles of indented coastline and wonderful beaches. Those of you who enjoy the great outdoors will find that Letterkenny and Co. Donegal have a great deal to offer. At weekends you will have ample opportunity to enjoy the mountains and coastlines of this beautiful county.

LETTERKENNY TOWN :
The population of Letterkenny is about 12,000 and growing. It is the major commercial and services centre of North Donegal. There are lots of facilities both in the town itself and in it's hinterland to help you make the most of your college years, both on and off the campus. There are two shopping centres and a good variety of shops, pubs, clubs etc. There is a Community Centre with indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a public swimming pool and leisure centre, a library, a vibrant arts centre, a six -screen cinema, a golf club, pitch and putt, astro turf playing surfaces, and athletics track etc.
