Institute of Management, Nirma University Presents The Entrepreneurship Conclave 2009

The Entrepreneurship Conclave 2009 at the Institute of Management, Nirma University commenced with the inauguration speech by Dr C Gopalkrishanan (Director, Institute of Management, Nirma University).
The theme for the conclave was ‘Entrepreneurial Journey- the First 1000 Days’. The conclave focussed on endeavouring at exploring the experiences and leanings of entrepreneurs in their most challenging yet enriching and future modelling phase in the entrepreneurial journey.

The Chief Guest Ms. Paru Jaykrishna (Joint MD and Chairperson, Asahi Songwon Color Ltd and Former President, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry) addressed the audience highlighting the challenges of her beginning as an entrepreneur. She said that an entrepreneur needs to consistently plan and decide every action and involve employees in decision too. It is imperative for an entrepreneur to understand finance and marketing and the rest of the activities can be delegated to employees. She explained her transformation from a housewife hailing from an illustrious industrial joint family into a successful women entrepreneur in the face of family crisis and cited the difficulty of balancing the family and professional life a woman faces trying to fulfil her dream and stated that family should be the priority. A recipe of a successful entrepreneur lies in five things- nothing is impossible, dreaming big, being courageous, confident and committed to your business, never giving up and finding opportunity in every difficulty.
Dr. Rahul Mirchandani, Executive Director, Aries Agro, Mumbai and National Chair, Yi of CII enlightened the participants on Challenges for Agri-Business. He being a second generation entrepreneur stressed on the bottom-up approach of scaling the hierarchy in the organisation and emphasised hard work, patience and humility. His thrust was marketing and his success mantra being identification of the right customer, value addition, rarity and difficulty in imitation. “Put science into the market and commerce will follow” said Dr. Mirchandani.

The final event of the first day was a Panel discussion led by Mr. Jay Ruparel, ED & COO, Azure Knowledge Corp Pvt Ltd and Ahmedabad Chapter Chairman, of Yi CII. on Resurgent Young India – Benefits from Networking.

Institute of Management, Nirma University is happy to announce signing of a MOU, creating a Chapter at the Institute which will be part of a nation-wide network of Young Indians, an initiative of Confederation of Indian Industry.
