Indian domestic market big enough for IT?

As US dream is coming to an end,ppl are floating a thoery making the Indian IT to look at the Indian domestic market. There are big projects being floated by Railways(Rs.1000cr),BSNL(Rs.5000cr).But the billing rates will be encouraging enough for IT companies to chase those projects. Moreover, the projects costs are not big enough when compares with US peers. The number of projects coming from Indian domestic will not be huge on lines with US or European counterparts.Even in India some of the big projects are given to Tech giants like IBM,HP considering their scale and product lines.Indian IT companies are nowhere close those Tech giants interms of innovation or technology. So Indian IT is in a state of quandary whether to look at domestic market or not.

Wats ur say?

big, but not nig enough..

yeah there has been a boon in IT consumptionin INDIA< but i guess the boon that IT services have witnessed in fa beyond the demand in INDIA, india is still a novice in the usage of IT technology, so most of the business for the IT companies remain offshore.

Yes, Indian market is huge, and considering the fact that a big chunk or our country's system has not yet received the benefit of IT, I would say that a bigger market, although, may not be providing that much margin as US market does, is present here - in our own country.

As long as infrastructure development remains the main agenda of the ruling government, Indian IT majors will definitely benefit. Though, I agree to the point that the domestic demand is far from being at its peak. There is huge potential in the Indian domestic market which will only be seen in the years to come. Majority of the revenue of TCS, Infosys still comes from the west which is why these companies still manage to post good returns.

I visited the Singapore A couple Of months Back And A Well Established Business man There told us that the Singapore Doesn't have the major it firms there are Smaller firms which operates on small scale if they need any IT technology they get it done from India.

Well This Says All.
