Purpose: To summarize research on leadership in business literature and to identify the outcomes from the impact of transformational leadership style on job involvement.
Background: Leaders have the essentials of authority, power and influence to lead followers to their goals. The use of these essentials has changes from the past, to the present and into the future business and organizational environment. Leadership affects individuals and groups through variety of ways such as job satisfaction, empowerment, job performance, involvement and retention.
Methods: A computerized search and review of research studies was conducted in business literature. Studies were analyzed and summarized in accordance to primary topic area, and effects or outcomes from transformational leadership style. Further, valid measurement scales were used to determine the relationship between variables. Transformational leadership style was assessed by using 20 item itemized scale by Bernie Bass (2003) while job involvement was assessed by using 9 item likert scale by J.K. White and R.R. Ruh (1973).
Findings: Our findings validate our hypotheses and indicate that transformational leadership has a moderate positive correlation with employees’ job involvement. The study of the relationship between leadership behavior and job involvement was in the proposed direction; that is transformational leadership was correlated with job involvement.
