Prerna: Social Entrpreneurship Awards

prerna.jpg

India has seen a surge in social entrepreneurship in the past decade with the biggest corporations stepping in to do their part towards society with the help of NGO's and other social initiatives. There are also many individuals who have left the corporate sector to do their bit for the community leaving more lucrative options to do something they believe in. To achieve any objective though a crucial element required is funding and recognition.

Prerna is IIM Lucknow Manfest's way of recognizing such entrepreneurs and highlighting their achievements, in the field of education, health or institutional responsibility. Prerna was created to exemplify the belief that profitability and community welfare aren't mutually exclusive. It is a humble endeavour to encourage entrepreneurs who have a vision that will positively affect society.

Dayitva - The CSR Simulation is a humble attempt to recreate this magic of CSR through a challenging online game which demands strategic thinking and futuristic vision to conquer it. It will be a challenge like none other to vie for top honours in a game that tests you so differently. And all along the way, rest assured, you will gasp in amazement at the potential that lies in CSR. With this in mind, Team Manfest takes great pleasure in inviting citizens and Corporates alike to participate in the exciting game called Dayitva - The CSR Simulation. While at the end of it there will be individual winners who shall walk away with grand prizes, the hope is that we will have spread the spirit of CSR to an august audience.

Lucknow 10k run

Four and half million years every man, woman and child on earth was an accomplished runner. Since then, while running has evolved into a sport, and now a science, there are many of us who need a re-introduction to this invigorating, efficiency-building, healthy activity. But even greater is its ability to unite people, as they run in unison, in pursuit of a common purpose.

IIM Lucknow's Manfest celebrates the city of Lucknow, by organizing the Lucknow City Run: an annual event that focusses on generating awareness for a certain relevant social cause. Manfest (2011) highlighted health issues due to the changing environment bought on by increased pollution and unhealthy eating habits. With 3000 athletes coming together with students and concerned citizens, the annual Lucknow City Run is a unifying force in the city of Nawabs. The run of course is closely watched and extensively covered by the national media.
